A while ago I was contacted by a friend of mine who asked me if I was interested in testing some children’s clothes for the Danish retail chain Bilka. We received clothes for Asger and Nora from the brands 808 and Mads&Mette. I was so excited to receive the clothes and right off the bat I really like the colors and the quality. We’ve had the clothes now for about a month and we have used it a lot!
If we start with Nora’s clothes I have to say that the pants have been a big hit. They are so soft and very comfortable for her, perfect now that she is about to move around more. We use the little hat every day when we go for walks outside, I actually didn’t have a hat like this for her, we’ve never needed one in Nashville so this was a first for Nora, but she seems to like it. It keeps her ears warm :-) The pajamas is super cute with the stripes (I LOVE STRIPES ON MY KIDS!) and we have used it a lot. (All the sizes were perfect by the way.) The only thing with the pajamas is the buttons because it takes time to button them and Nora does not like to lay still these days when I change her diaper, so oftentimes it is just easier with a zipper. Thats not the pajamas fault though :-)
Asger’s clothes were also great! We’ve used the blouses a lot. I like the colors (especially the stripes). The quality is also great and they are very soft on his skin. We’ve used the jeans a lot as well, they are super cool and has a baggy look, which is pretty cool. We haven’t used the jacket so much yet (only because it is still a little too big) but once the weather gets warmer Asger is going to wear it when we play outside.
We have had a lot of fun testing these clothes and the kids like to wear them, which is the most important thing :-) Thank you Bilka!
This afternoon we had dinner at Asger’s daycare with all the other parents and siblings. Asger was playing with the oven and pretended to bake his shoes and socks… And then he tried to crawl into the oven ;) but he was too big.
These days Asger talks a lot about contrasts, big and small. When we build houses of his magnets he tries to put all kinds of toys into the house and oftentimes the toys are ‘too big’.
He has also learned to distinguish between the words boy, girl, man and woman. In the morning when we all eat breakfast together Asger points to me and says ‘Mami woman’, then he points to Nora and says ‘Nora girl’. He knows that Asger is a ‘boy’ and that daddy is a ‘strong daddy’ :)
Good night y’all!
Nora and I just went grocery shopping. I needed some chicken and veggies for later today when we are having dinner at Asger’s daycare. All the parents bring a dish to share so I am making chicken-veggies-kebabs, thats alway seems to be a big hit with kids and it is easy to make :-)
When we were standing in line to pay at the grocery store, I noticed the older man in front of us, he was wearing a cowboy hat and you wouldn’t believe how happy that made me. It totally made my day. He looked so cool! It was almost like being back home in Nashville. I really miss the cowboy hats and boots, can you tell?!
Walking home I got all sentimental and just a tiny bit sad, and I might have shed just a teeny tiny tear.. Just a little one :-) And it is not because I am sad to be back in Copenhagen, not at all, I am really happy to be close to family and good old friends who I’ve missed so much for the past 3-4 years. But for those of you who have lived in other places, cities or countries, for a longer period of time and come to think of that place as your home, then you know how I feel :-) And that old man with the cowboy hat just reminded me of Nashville and our fantastic adventures over there. Not a day goes by without missing Nashville and our dear friends, but that doesn’t mean that I walk around and cry all the time, haha. Just once in a while… when I see a man walking around with a cowboy hat :-)
It is lunch time and today I made oatmeal with blueberries for Nora for the very first time and she really liked it. Just like her brother, she refuses to eat unless she has her entire hand in the bowl…. so we make a huge mess every time we eat, but oh well.. As long as she likes the oatmeal, thats all that matters :-)
It is not fun all the time! Learning how to crawl is hard work, just ask Nora. Sometimes it is hard hard work and you might scream and cry in frustration, just like here :-(
Nora is on the move these days, pheeew! She just started to crawl and she wants to go everywhere. It takes time, but slowly but surely, she gets around… baby steps, but YAY! Go Nora! I can see on her little face that she is very happy to get around and for each little ‘crawl move’ she gets more and more confident.
Another big thing happening for Nora these days is HER VERY FIRST TOOTH! It is so very exciting for her. So far she hasn’t been uncomfortable or more cranky than usual, suddenly we just noticed a tiny tooth emerging through the gums. Oh our big girl is growing up and she beat her brother when it comes to teething, thats for sure. Asger’s first baby tooth arrived after he turned 13 months old. A late bloomer. Better late than never :-)
On another note. Bia and I went to cross fit last night and I am so so sore in my legs and knees. I was supposed to go running today but I had to join Nora at nap time, I was just so exhausted in my body. It might get me in shape all this cross fit but in the mean time, it hurts. A LOT!
Happy Tuesday y’all!
Last night it was quality family time for me, Lus and Kasper. Lus and I were invited over to Kasper’s apartment to have dinner and we had such a good time. Kasper made some really delicious and old school food for us, chicken and veggies in the oven, steamed broccoli and some fancy mashed potatoes. I almost can’t remember the last time the three of us were together, probably two years ago? Too long, thats for sure. Much needed family time :-)
When I came home I was reminded that it was the OSCARS! Because of the time difference I would have had to stay up until 3am if I wanted to see the show and with Nora waking up during the night too, I chose not to stay up. (Asger slept in his big boy bed last night for the very first time, and he slept in it ALL NIGHT LONG! Wauw, I am so proud of him!)
I’ve never really been that interested in watching the Oscars before and actually not at all while we lived in the US. But now, all of a sudden when we are back in Denmark, I want to see the Oscars! I think it is because it is a little piece of the US, right here in Denmark, in the middle of the night. Maybe next year I will be awake to see it all :-)
Happy Monday y’all!
Yesterday at auntie Lus and uncle Lach’s place, playing with the Hong Kong skyline while eating a cookie ;)
Today I went running in the park. I ran alone. I am not used to that, I always run with Nora, but Peter stayed home with both kids. I went really well and it feels good to run again. From next week on I start my serious 'Get back in shape after having two kids' strategy and I can’t wait!
The plan is to, eat healthy of course :-) Walk every day with Nora in the stroller. And then I start cross fit twice a week with my girl Bia, and I am so excited! I am going to be so extremely sore but I am positive that it will be good for me. And the latest addition to my plan, train for the BTs half marathon in april. My friend Line, who I studied with in design school back in 2005, just asked me today if we should run the half marathon together and train for it, and I am all in! Always up for a running challenge and it is perfect timing. So from next week on, it is game ON!
We don’t have much time and I am not in amazing shape right now but it can’t be harder than training for a half marathon 6 weeks after giving birth to your second child and had a c section, right? I have 8 weeks now. Back then, I had 7 weeks and I was not in shape at all. So wish me luck. From next week on I will be busy getting back in shape and it is probably going to hurt a bit, hahaha.
Happy Saturday night y’all!
Happy Weekend y’all! Asger is eating a hot dog at IKEA, yum! We just bought him a big boy bed today, exciting stuff! He’s a big boy now. That means Nora is ready to graduate into Asger’s old crib and its time to be a big girl now, and sleep in her own bed. I can’t wait! Hope the transition goes smoothly… hahaha! Wishful thinking.
We just got back home after a nice afternoon with Lus and Lach. We finally got to see their new apartment at Vesterbro and it was so nice, a very ‘hyggelig’ lejlighed. They made lunch for us and we went for a walk to a nearby playground. Now we are back home and ready to assemble Asger’s new bed. It has become our weekend thing ‘to do’: always go to IKEA, buy something and go back home and spend a few hours assembling furniture, hahaha.
Happy IKEA Saturday y’all!
This morning they celebrated Fastelavn at the daycare. All the kids were dressed up. Asger was a hotdog :-) There were also lots of bees, lady bugs, spider mans, a chicken, an astronaut, piglet, tigger and many more.
Fun times :-)
Yesterday was another great day with mormor and Lars. They came over early and we had tea and played with Nora. Early in the morning I went for a walk with Nora, we walked to Nørrebro to find Asger a ‘fastelavns’ costume. I found him a HOTDOG costume, yihaaar! Like father, like son :-)(Fastelavn is the Danish version of Halloween.)
In the afternoon mom went up to pick up Asger from the daycare and it went so fine, no problem at all. Asger had had a great day and he was happy to see mormor, as he calls her. (Mormor is the Danish word for grandmother).
Last night my good friend Astrid invited me to come along for an album release ‘concert’ with the Danish band ‘Who Made Who’. I don’t really know their music but it was a really fun night and so great to see Astrid again. We listened to their album and they answered questions and played a few live numbers, and I actually really like their music :) I know Astrid from way back in 2003 when we both moved to Paris to work as au pairs for French families. We had one heck of a year, lots of parties, many cool experiences and we had the time of our lives living abroad all by ourselves for the very first time :-) It was great to see her and catch up while listening to some great music :-)
Happy fastelavn y’all!
Today mormor and morfar Lars came to visit us :-) We picked up Asger early from the daycare so we could all play at the house. At the daycare they told me Asger had a fever :-( Strange, because in the morning when we woke up I noticed that Nora was very warm too. I checked her temperature and surely enough, she had a fever as well. My poor babies! They both seemed fine in the afternoon luckily, but Nora was very clingy and fussy, not her normal self.
For dinner mom and Lars made us ‘fiskefrikadeller’, ‘rodfrugter’ in the oven and a carrot salad, YUM! It was so delicious!
Now it is getting late and I am off to bed. Nora woke up after dinner, she wash;t suppose to wake up, but I think the fever woke her up. We had to give her some medicine and hopefully she will sleep better now, my poor Nora.
Sweet dreams y’all!
Today was a really good day! In the morning Nora and I went for a long walk around the lakes with Liv and baby Olav. Olav was asleep the entire time, ahhh the sound of sleeping babies is the best sound ever, haha :-) We walked around for hours, talked, stopped for coffee and a quick bite and walked some more. It was really nice weather, the sun was out and it felt kinda like spring. Now I just jinxed it… it is going to snow next week I just know it!
In the afternoon I was pretty housewife and I did the laundry, vacuumed and cleaned up around the house with Nora in the carrier. Go team mama! After dinner I went to a free Crossfit intro class with my girl Bia. A few years ago we both took this crazy ‘taeskeholds’ class that was pretty hard, lots of hard exercises, sit ups, crazy cardio, pull ups and so on, a bit similar to crossfit. Crossfit is pretty hyped these days so I thought why not try it out? everyone seems to like it :-) So we did! And it was HARD! It was challenging and there is definitely room for improvement, haha. Those kettle bells… not my best friends! But we had fun and we are coming back for more. We signed up for a one month intro class, and so after the first 8 times we will reevaluate if this is something that we wanna do for real. Yay! It was fun and I am so tired now!
Good night y’all!
